Associate Counsel, Business & Legal Affairs

About the role
This position will provide legal support for a wide variety of commercial transactions with a focus on software, artificial intelligence, and other technology and business counseling matters for the Global Streaming businesses, including Peacock and international projects powered by the Peacock platform. This role reports to the division’s Vice President.
Responsibilities
- Independently draft, review, negotiate, and interpret a range of contracts and other legal documents, including software and technology licenses and professional services agreements for Peacock and other Global Streaming and Media Group properties (e.g., NBC and Bravo apps and websites).
- Negotiate and counsel clients regarding emerging issues in technology transactions, including generative AI.
- Conduct special projects such as training client teams.
- Coordinate with Privacy and Information Security teams to ensure personal data and confidential information are collected, used, and secured in accordance with the law and company policy.
- Coordinate with the Product Counseling team to provide an integrated approach to risks in product guidance and contract terms.
- Provide timely and thoughtful legal advice on potential risks and issues, and propose practical, responsive solutions.
- Maintain awareness and understanding of the latest developments in law and technology as they relate to digital media and platforms.
- Partner with NBCUniversal business executives and Law Department colleagues to discuss and implement best practices and formulate new processes in connection with business needs.
- Handle other matters as needed at the direction of the division’s Vice President.
Requirements
- Member of the New York bar or another U.S. state bar.
- JD or LLM degree from an accredited law school.
- 2+ years of relevant legal experience.
- Experience in digital/new media/online platforms, including a thorough understanding of and demonstrated proficiency with technology agreements.

- Demonstrated ability to approach complex legal matters thoughtfully, analytically, and with practical judgment.
- Ability to explain complex legal concepts to business and creative executives, build consensus across business units, think creatively, and collaborate with stakeholders to address business needs.
Additional Requirements
- Willingness to work nights and weekends, if needed.
Schedule
This position currently has a hybrid schedule, requiring in-office work in New York, NY, a minimum of four days per week. The Company reserves the right to change in-office requirements at any time.

Pay
Salary range: $100,000 – $130,000 (bonus eligible).
