About the Role

Join the team at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania – Cedar Campus as the Associate Clinical Manager for our brand-new multispecialty practice in West Philadelphia. This is a unique opportunity to lead the launch and daily operations of a growing ambulatory practice dedicated to providing high-quality, accessible care while fulfilling our mission to serve the surrounding community. In this leadership role, you'll partner with physicians and interdisciplinary teams to develop workflows, mentor and support clinical staff, drive quality and patient experience initiatives, and shape the future of this innovative practice from the ground up. Typical scope for this role includes managing 2-10 direct staff and supporting fewer than 15,000 budgeted annual visits. Complexity factors may involve coordination of inpatient services, care across several departments/entities, academic involvement (research initiatives, resident programs), special clinical programs, regulatory requirements, and support of external partnerships.

Patient Care Process

• Establishes/updates work processes and work practices and performs clinical duties to maintain workflows and adequate staffing levels.
• In collaboration with clinical and operational leaders, manages team and individual performance in alignment with Penn Medicine's vision of service excellence.
• Clearly defines work processes, recognizes and rewards individuals for a job well done, and addresses performance issues immediately.

Recruitment and Retention of Staff

• Assists Manager with recruitment and retention and ensures adequate onboarding.

Professional Development

• Assists with the development of clinical staff in collaboration with the Nursing Professional Development team.
• Ensures staff are compliant with clinical competencies and mandatory trainings.

Regulatory Compliance

• Assists the practice or clinical leadership with appropriate staffing, compliance (TJC, CMS, DOH, OSHA), and continuous quality and safety improvement initiatives.
• Maintains a focus on Quality and Safety Priorities including the application of a quality improvement framework (FOCUS PDSA), High Reliable Organization principles, and safety event follow-up.
• Manages pay practices including accurate timecard review and approval, and reviews and manages all overtime utilization.
• Assists with the implementation of change management strategies within the practice in alignment with department, entity, and Penn Medicine objectives.
• Supports proactive communication and problem-solving to enable high performance of the team and individuals.

Requirements

• Registered Nurse - PA (Required)
• ACLS, BCLS, or PALS (Required; BLS/ACLS/PALS per specialty)
• Bachelor of Arts or Science in Nursing (Required)
• 3+ years of clinical experience
