Associate Attorney - Insurance Coverage

This role is hosted by Andrea Ankarlo and offers a hybrid or remote schedule with no minimum billable hour requirement.

We are working with a nationally recognized defense firm that focuses on legal solutions for the reinsurance and insurance industries, as well as self-insured clients facing litigation. They work in a variety of industries including business law, construction law, general litigation, and transportation law.

Responsibilities

• Analyzing insurance and reinsurance policies and drafting detailed coverage opinions.
• Reviewing complex insurance contracts and assessing related legal issues.
• Advising on risk transfer strategies.
• Communicating with clients to provide clear and strategic coverage recommendations.
• Drafting pleadings, motions, and discovery documents.
• Managing litigation caseloads, including depositions, court appearances, and motion practice, both independently and under supervision.
• Performing in-depth legal research and responding to regulatory inquiries.
• Accurately recording and maintaining billable hours while ensuring all deadlines are met.

Requirements

• Admission to practice in the State of New York is required. (CT, PA, NJ is a plus)
• Federal Court experience is a plus.
• At least 3 years of experience in insurance coverage or related fields (e.g., reinsurance, regulatory).
• Exceptional writing, research, and analytical skills, with a commitment to delivering error-free work.
• Experience with written discovery, motion practice, depositions, and trial preparation.
• Insurance defense experience is a plus.

Pay

$110,000 - $150,000 per year (base salary range: $100,000 - $150,000) plus bonus.
