Associate Attorney - Insurance Coverage

This role is hosted by Andrea Ankarlo and is open to candidates who live in the Hartford area for court appearances. Hybrid or fully remote schedules are available.

About the role

We are partnering with a nationally recognized defense firm specializing in legal solutions for the reinsurance and insurance industries, as well as self-insured clients facing litigation. The firm handles a variety of practice areas, including business law, construction law, general litigation, and transportation law.

Responsibilities

• Review complex insurance contracts and assess related legal issues.
• Communicate with clients to provide clear and strategic coverage recommendations.
• Draft pleadings, motions, and discovery documents.
• Manage litigation caseloads, including depositions, court appearances, and motion practice, both independently and under supervision.
• Perform in-depth legal research and respond to regulatory inquiries.
• Accurately record and maintain billable hours while ensuring all deadlines are met.

Requirements

• Admission to practice in the State of Connecticut is required. (MA, NY, NJ, or PA admission is a plus.)
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in insurance coverage or related fields (e.g., reinsurance, regulatory).
• Litigation experience in the CT courts; Federal court experience is a plus.
• Exceptional writing, research, and analytical skills, with a commitment to delivering error-free work.
• Experience with written discovery, motion practice, depositions, and trial preparation.
• Insurance defense experience is a plus.

Pay

$110,000 – $150,000 per year, plus bonus.
