About the role

M McCarthy & Holthus, LLP is seeking an attorney to support the firm’s commercial default and creditor rights practice as part of the Legal Resolution team. This role will focus on pre-foreclosure demand strategy, commercial foreclosure review, statute of limitations and deficiency analysis, and complex default-related legal issues. The attorney will also collaborate across a second practice group, Replevin, providing strategic legal support and assisting with operational and litigation matters as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Review commercial loan referrals and advise on risk and strategy.
  • Draft and review legal documents including demands letters.
  • Manage case files and maintain accurate records to ensure compliance with legal standards and firm policies.
  • Conduct file rolls with clients.
  • Assist with the drafting and review of replevin pleadings, and assist with hearing coverage when needed (generally, virtual court calls).

Skills

  • Utilize writing skills daily to prepare pleadings and client correspondence.
  • Educate and communicate effectively with clients, colleagues, and opposing counsel, ensuring clarity and professionalism.
  • Time management and organizational skills enable the attorney to handle multiple cases simultaneously while meeting strict deadlines.
  • Analytical skills are applied to interpret laws, precedents, and evidence to build compelling cases and procedures.
  • Familiarity with legal technology enhances efficiency in managing case files, conducting research, and streamlining workflow.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the bar in the relevant state(s) within the United States.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.

Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of prior experience working in a law firm or legal department.
  • Familiarity with real property and commercial foreclosure.
  • Experience with case management software and document management systems.

Pay

The salary for this position typically ranges from $115,000.00 - $150,000.00, depending on qualifications, experience, and other factors. The final offer may differ based on the candidate's specific qualifications, skills, and experience, as well as internal equity and business needs.

Work Schedule

The work week is typically Monday through Friday, with business hours from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Employees may be required to be onsite 2 days per week following a 90-day training period and upon management approval. The initial training period may require full-time in-office hours depending on prior experience.

A corporate office environment with a professional setting, characterized by a quiet to moderate noise level. Employees may work in individual or shared workspaces, with standard office equipment such as computers, printers, and telephones. Occasional meetings, collaborative discussions, and business activities may contribute to variations in noise levels.
