Job Details

Responsibilities

• Represent clients in court or before government agencies, presenting evidence to defend clients or prosecute defendants in criminal or civil litigation.
• Prepare and draft legal documents such as wills, deeds, patent applications, mortgages, leases, and contracts.
• Provide legal advice to clients on their rights and obligations.
• Conduct research and analysis of legal problems to interpret laws, rulings, and regulations for individuals and businesses.
• Negotiate settlements in civil disputes.
• Prepare legal briefs and opinions, and file appeals in state and federal courts of appeal.
• Perform administrative and management functions related to the practice of law.
• Communicate with clients, colleagues, judges and others involved in the case.
• Conduct pretrial discovery, and develop trial strategies.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
• Admission to the Michigan Bar.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience as an attorney, with significant experience in Insurance Defense, General Liability, Premises Liability, Transportation Defense, Trucking, Auto Negligence, Motor Vehicle Accident, No-fault, PIP, Civil Litigation, Real Estate Litigation, and Business Litigation.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex legal issues in clear and concise language.
• Strong research and report-writing skills.
• Proficiency in legal research software.
• A high level of professionalism and ethical standards.
• Excellent negotiation and problem-solving skills.
• The ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• A strong analytical and strategic thinking skills.
• The ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
