Responsibilities

  • Represent clients in court or before government agencies, presenting evidence to defend or prosecute lawsuits.
  • Conduct research and analysis of legal problems to interpret laws, rulings, and regulations for individuals and businesses.
  • Prepare and draft legal documents, such as wills, deeds, patent applications, mortgages, leases, and contracts.
  • Advise clients concerning business transactions, claim liability, advisability of prosecuting or defending lawsuits, or legal rights and obligations.
  • Negotiate settlements of civil disputes, mediate between parties, and coordinate case handling with other attorneys.
  • Perform administrative and management functions related to the practice of law.
  • Prepare legal briefs and opinions, and file appeals in state and federal courts of appeal.
  • Develop strategies and arguments in preparation for presentation of cases.
  • Gather evidence to formulate defense or to initiate legal actions, by such means as interviewing clients and witnesses to ascertain the facts of a case.

Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Must be a member in good standing with the local State Bar Association.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as an attorney, with a strong background in litigation, depositions, mediations, settlements, and legal research.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with clients, judges, and opposing counsel.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
  • Proven track record of achieving favorable outcomes for clients in complex legal cases.
  • Proficiency in legal research tools and databases.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret and apply complex laws and regulations.
  • High level of professional ethics and integrity.
  • Strong negotiation skills, with the ability to secure favorable terms and conditions for clients.
