About the role
The Associate/Assistant Athletic Trainer is a full-time, on-site position based in Gambier, OH.
Responsibilities
- Provides comprehensive athletic training services to varsity student-athletes, including injury evaluation, treatment, rehabilitation, and return-to-play planning.
- Collaborates with sports medicine staff and participates in ongoing professional development.
- Coordinates injury prevention programs.
- Maintains accurate medical records.
- Communicates with coaches and healthcare providers.
- Supports strength and conditioning initiatives consistent with best practices.
- Attends practices and competitions.
- Manages the athletic training room.
- Oversight of inventory of supplies.
- Ensures compliance with institutional and governing body health and safety standards.
Qualifications
- Skills in Injury Prevention and Prevention-focused program design to reduce risk and support athlete wellness.
- Skills in Athletic Training, including injury assessment, emergency care, and sideline management.
- Skills in Rehabilitation, including therapeutic exercise planning, treatment progression, and coordination of care.
- Skills in Strength & Conditioning to support safe performance enhancement and functional training.
- A relevant qualification includes a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Athletic Training or a related field and current certification as an Athletic Trainer (e.g., BOC certification).
- State licensure or eligibility for licensure in Ohio, current CPR/AED and first aid certification, and experience working with collegiate or competitive athletes are strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with coaches, medical professionals, and students, strong communication skills, and a commitment to inclusive, patient-centered care are important.
