Primary Responsibilities
- Ensures alignment of assessments with best practices in competency-based education model and WGU assessment integrity policies.
- Provides input for the continuous improvement of student outcomes and overall health and quality assessments.
- Understands and supports the alignment of assessment traverse with proficiencies, skills and competencies in programs, courses, and non-degree offerings.
- Translates requirements into clearly defined specifications and actions.
- Contributes by recommending enhancements/changes to models for formative and summative assessments.
- Collaborates with internal and external partners throughout the design, development, and deployment of assessments.
- Collaborate with Assessment Strategists and Senior Assessment Strategists regarding the technology, design, and development to ensure the creation and adoption of flexible, valid, reliable, data-driven assessment tools.
- Supports cross-functional collaboration with stakeholders to explore innovations and improvements to the existing student experience and processes based on data, key performance indicators, current practice, and emerging trends.
- Collaborate with peers across colleges to ensure continuity of process and strategy for assessments.
- Achieves and reports on critical assessment metrics.
- Provides student-facing responses to student appeals.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated knowledge of assessment development practices.
- Demonstrated ability to proactively and creatively solve problems related to assessment design and development.
- Practical understanding of teaching and learning, educational trends and research.
- Demonstrated skill in providing training as well as persuasively explaining assessment policy and best practices.
- Ability to analyze data to identify trends and drive improvement.
- Ability to build relationships and work effectively in a highly matrixed organization.
- Excellent organizational and project management skills, including the ability to effectively handle multiple tasks and pay attention to detail.
Experience
- 2 years of relevant professional experience developing educational or licensure assessments at the course or program level.
- Experience with contemporary assessment practices and technology (e.g., adaptive assessment, competency-based assessment, psychometrics, technology-enhanced items, prototyping and validating new item types, test designs, etc.).
- Experience facilitating workshops.

- Ability to work a student-friendly schedule (evenings/weekends).
Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
