About the role

We are looking to expand our team with a highly driven and experienced Power Distribution Application Engineer. This role is critical in business generation for Low Voltage Switchgear, Switchboards, Panelboards, Busway, and unit substations by offering solutions that best fit customer needs while ensuring competitive pricing. The ideal candidate will work closely with Siemens Sales and direct customers in the data center, industrial, and construction markets on technical, contractual, and commercial issues. You will be responsible for locating and exploring new business prospects, as well as expanding current ones.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to requests for proposals (RFPs, RFQs, and other bid requests) by drafting and submitting bids.
  • Follow up on opportunities to confirm if they have been won, lost, or abandoned.
  • Work together with internal teams to produce project plans, budgets, and timeframes.
  • Engage in commercial contract negotiations with both customers and suppliers.
  • Maintain accurate records of all contracts, bids, and proposals.
  • Create and modify project drawings and schematics using AutoCAD.
  • Monitor industry trends and competitor actions to identify prospective opportunities and risks.
  • Represent the company at trade shows, conventions, and other gatherings to foster connections with prospective customers.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in engineering or 4 years of equivalent experience in engineering.
  • 1+ years of expertise in preparing proposals and bidding on projects.
  • Fundamental financial and commercial aptitude.
  • Knowledge and experience with the application of electrical distribution products and systems, with a focus on Low Voltage switchgear and switchboard products.
  • Experience evaluating single line diagrams (SLD), relay PLC schemes, and communication network diagrams (media & protocols).
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office software.
  • Willingness to travel on short notice as necessary.
  • Must be eligible to work in the U.S. with no sponsorship now or in the future.

Qualifications

  • BS in Electrical Engineering (preferred).
  • Basic technical knowledge of electrical distribution products and systems.
  • Solid understanding of project management approaches and concepts.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Capacity for detailed analysis and creative problem-solving.
  • Familiarity with ANSI, IEEE, UL, and NEMA standards for low voltage equipment.
