About the Role

As a Power Distribution Application Engineer, you will work in alignment with engineering and project teams to provide purchasing and technical support for power distribution equipment. This customer-service-focused position drives standardization, ensuring efficient and accurate equipment selection by following a continuously improved process. You will serve project team members by managing project and product costs while supporting project delivery timelines. This role also supports a strategic corporate partnership with a key gear manufacturer and acts as a key contact for coordination between engineering, project teams, and Excellerate.

Requirements

  • Associate’s Degree and 3 years of experience in installing Power Distribution Equipment, or Bachelor’s Degree
  • Strong technical knowledge of switchgear, MCCs, transformers, panel boards, and switchboards
  • Medium Voltage experience (ideal)
  • Experience in a project estimating role (a plus)
  • Travel: 5-10%

Responsibilities

  • Support project teams with technical leadership in purchasing activities related to power distribution, including switchgear, generators, and MCCs
  • Drive an overall project and customer value approach to equipment selection with the project team
  • Work with estimating to ensure accurate power distribution equipment price information is considered in developing bids
  • Contribute to the achievement of targets: product cost, project cost, quality, and time-to-market while respecting purchasing processes and strategy
  • Drive a supply chain approach, promoting innovation, standardization, product quality, and efficient lead-times
  • Encourage and seek co-development and early supplier involvement; bring supplier market knowledge and education to the team(s)
  • Monitor and ensure competitive cost of equipment and compare it to estimated project cost
  • Help the project team assess possible uses of Excellerate with power distribution equipment
  • Work with Engineering to develop standardized packages for design-build and support value engineering efforts
  • Collaborate with cross-functional departments, including estimating, engineering, purchasing, and operations
  • Provide customer-focused innovation via engineering and suppliers
  • Study technical drawings and electrical specifications to ensure the equipment bill of materials conforms to standards and customer requirements
  • Handle multiple and conflicting priorities and effectively prioritize tasks in a fast-paced work environment
  • Navigate through customer plans and specifications
  • Demonstrate approachability, collaboration, and effective influence
  • Plan, complete, and implement assignments and responsibilities in a timely manner
  • Define work to be done; clearly communicate vision, objectives, and tasks to appropriate individuals
  • Develop relationships with leaders, customers, and others that facilitate open dialogue and trust
  • Perform other related duties as required and assigned

Schedule

This position works between the hours of 7 AM and 5 PM, Monday through Friday. However, work may be performed at any time on any day of the week to meet business needs.
