About the role
Dow has an exciting opportunity for an Associate Analytical Technician in Seadrift, TX. In this role, you will provide the analytical data to produce and release products and enable process and product optimization. This role supports a plant MPQ (Manage Product Quality) lab.
Responsibilities
- Collect samples according to Sample Plan.
- Perform routine and non-routine analyses on analytical equipment such as Gas Chromatography (GC), titrations, and spectrometry.
- Document, communicate, and archive results using appropriate IT software and electronic tools (such as Chromatography Data Systems (OpenLab)).
- Understand and execute procedures, policies, and work processes such as Environmental Health & Safety, Operating Discipline Management Systems (ODMS), quality procedures, and AWP (Analytical Work Process).
- Perform basic calibration and maintenance of analytical systems.
- Monitor analytical systems.
Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent AND one of the following is required:
- Associates degree or higher in Process Technology or Science discipline.
- 3 or more years of relevant military experience.
- 6 months or more of relevant experience (e.g. Analytical Tech, Industrial Lab, etc.).
- Willing and able to work a 12-hour rotating shift schedule (including days, nights, weekends & holidays).
- Willing and able to work overtime as needed (including days, nights, weekends & holidays).
- Must possess a TWIC card or be eligible to obtain a TWIC card.
Skills
- Analytical Instrumentation Proficiency: Ability to perform routine and non-routine analyses using tools like Gas Chromatography (GC), titrations, and spectrometry.
- Analytical Testing: The process of evaluating materials or substances using scientific methods to determine their composition, quality, or performance.
- Laboratory Analytical Techniques: A set of standardized methods used in laboratories to analyze samples.
- Problem Solving: The ability to identify issues, analyze root causes, and implement effective solutions.
- Customer Service: Providing support and assistance to internal or external customers by addressing their needs, resolving concerns, and ensuring satisfaction.
- Communication: The ability to convey information clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing.
- Technical Documentation & IT Tools: Skilled in documenting and communicating results using Chromatography Data Systems (e.g., OpenLab) and Microsoft Office tools like Outlook, Word, and Excel.
Physical Requirements
- Able to meet the following physical demands of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation:
- Lift, push, carry and pull up to a maximum of 50 lbs.
- Able to work in a laboratory environment which requires minimal supervision.
- Adapt to the Rhythm of Shiftwork.
- Work in and around tight spaces and large machinery.
- Be able to repeatedly sit down and stand up from a chair at a workstation.
- Walk and stand for extended periods of time.
- Frequent bending and reaching.
- Able to climb stairs / ladders.
- Able to perform repetitive motion tasks.
- Work in an area with hazardous materials.
- Must be able to wear and use all personal protective equipment (PPE), including but not limited to safety glasses, fire retardant clothing, ear plugs, and/or acceptable safety shoes, including harnesses with a total weight capacity of 300lbs.
