Role Summary

The Associate Analyst, Capital Management supports capital forecasting, regulatory capital reporting, and capital analysis activities for National Life Group. This role is responsible for running and maintaining capital forecasting models, validating quarterly capital results, preparing analysis and presentation materials, and supporting scenario and sensitivity work used to evaluate current and future capital positions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Run the Capital Forecasting Model on a quarterly and as-needed basis, including model population, error checking, translating results, and preparing presentation materials.
  • Improve capital model efficiency and reporting capabilities on an ongoing basis.
  • Document capital management processes and procedures.
  • Aid in the preparation of quarterly RBC and S&P capital results, including validating results and developing waterfalls.
  • Help develop quarter-end and year-end roll-forward forecasts of NLIC, LSW, and S&P AAA and AA capital levels based on known factors.
  • Perform impact analysis of proposed capital charge changes for RBC and S&P models.
  • Aid Risk Management in developing ORSA sensitivities and scenarios on an annual basis.
  • Complete the Group Capital Calculation and file with the NAIC on an annual basis.
  • Work with internal partners to accurately capture RBC and S&P capital impacts of proposed capital strategies, including reinsurance, non-admitted assets, and block sales.
  • Provide support for capital management, board, and IRC meetings.
  • Perform ad hoc analysis as requested to determine impacts on current and future capital positions.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Actuarial Studies, or a similar quantitative field.
  • 3 or more years of related experience in finance, actuarial, capital management, risk management, or a similar analytical field.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to work in a fast-paced finance environment.
  • Ability to adapt to a changing environment and work through ambiguity.
  • Ability to meet deadlines for recurring reporting and analysis.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including advanced use of Excel and working knowledge of Word.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with others.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with capital forecasting, RBC, S&P capital models, ORSA, or Group Capital Calculation processes.
  • Experience preparing financial analysis, model outputs, or presentation materials for management or governance meetings.
  • Experience working with insurance, financial services, risk management, or actuarial teams.
  • Strong process documentation and model improvement skills.
