Associate Actuary – Casualty Specialty Markets
About the role
Join AIG’s world-class actuarial function as an Associate Actuary – Casualty Specialty Markets. In this role, you will provide pricing, analytics, and technical support to the Energy, Trucking, and Environmental Portfolios, with a focus on Commercial Auto Liability. You will perform profitability analysis, develop and maintain raters, review large account pricing, produce monthly business KPI reports, and assist with annual budgeting and portfolio strategy. Additional responsibilities include supporting quarterly earnings reporting, business AvE, diagnostics, large loss reporting, and managing one direct report.
You will collaborate with underwriting to refine pricing and underwriting strategies, identify profitable growth opportunities, and assess the impact of loss trends. The role involves ensuring the accuracy of quoting and rating systems, executing rate level indications, and driving process improvements with the data team to achieve actuarial transformation goals. You will also develop premium adequacy reports, perform peer reviews, and communicate insights to senior management, underwriters, comptrollers, and claims teams.
Responsibilities
- Perform profitability analysis and deep dives for the Energy, Trucking, and Environmental Portfolios.
- Develop and maintain raters, and review large account pricing.
- Produce monthly business KPI reports and assist with annual budgeting and portfolio strategy.
- Support quarterly earnings-related reporting, business AvE, diagnostics, and large loss reporting.
- Partner with other actuaries to implement best practices and assess loss trends and claims emergence.
- Manage one direct report.
- Collaborate with underwriting to develop pricing and underwriting strategies, and identify profitable growth opportunities.
- Support business review processes and portfolio deep dives, including reviewing underwriting actions impacting loss ratios.
- Ensure accuracy of quoting and rating systems by working with Underwriters.
- Execute rate level indications, portfolio profitability exercises, and rate reviews within planned timeframes.
- Collaborate with the data team to drive process improvement and achieve actuarial transformation goals.
- Develop and produce premium adequacy reports and budget loss ratio estimates for various segments.
- Perform peer reviews for actuarial work products.
- Communicate with and advise senior management, underwriters, comptrollers, and the claims department.
- Train junior staff to achieve AIG’s financial, strategic, and operational objectives.
Requirements
- At least an Associate of the Casualty Actuarial Society (ACAS).
- At least 5 years of commercial lines actuarial experience, preferably with significant commercial auto pricing experience.
- Exceptional communication skills, including the ability to develop and present clear, concise analysis and recommendations to senior management.
- Willingness and ability to continuously learn and adapt in a dynamic, fast-changing environment.
- Strong attention to detail and timeliness.
- Proficiency in Excel, SQL, Snowflake, Python, R, or other programming languages is preferred.

Pay
The base salary range for this position is $120,000–$150,000, and the position is eligible for a bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable incentive plan.
Schedule
This role primarily requires in-person collaboration at the office to support AIG’s culture of teamwork and connectedness.
