Associate Actuary
Anticipated End Date: 09/03/2026. This role requires associates to be in-office 1-2 days per week, fostering collaboration and connectivity, while providing flexibility to support productivity and work-life balance. Alternate locations may be considered if candidates reside within a commuting distance from an office.
About the role
The Associate Actuary will support specialty business products, including dental, vision, and supplemental health.
Responsibilities
- Perform advanced actuarial and statistical analysis by applying appropriate actuarial analytical tools to data under limited supervision.
- Update actuarial pricing and forecasting models as directed.
- Refine and collect appropriate data for actuarial analysis, ensuring reasonableness and accuracy through coordination within the division.
- Serve as an informal mentor to other analysts on the team, guiding them through projects and advancing their analytical and technical skills.
- Perform key actuarial functions, including new product pricing, evaluation of the impact of new legislation, flexible benefit consulting, and special projects.
- Support forecasting functions and regulatory filings.
Requirements
- BA/BS degree and minimum of 4 years of related experience; or any combination of education and experience that provides an equivalent background.
- ASA (Associate of the Society of Actuaries) certification required.
Preferred Skills
- Advanced MS Excel experience (e.g., data modeling, complex functions, pivot tables, creating dashboards for data visualization).
- Ability to write and optimize complex queries to ensure data integrity and reliability when cleaning, manipulating, and analyzing large datasets using SQL, SAS, or other data tools.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Commercial health, dental, vision, or supplemental health experience.
Pay
For candidates working in person or virtually in California, Colorado, or Minnesota, the salary range for this position is $126,720 to $207,360. The salary offered is based on legitimate, non-discriminatory factors set by the company.

Schedule
Elevance Health operates in a Hybrid Workforce Strategy. Associates are required to work at an Elevance Health location at least once per week, and potentially several times per week. Specific requirements and expectations for time onsite will be discussed as part of the hiring process.
