Associate Accountant - AP Payment Analyst - Wichita KS
This role is available to Veterans, Transitioning Military, National Guard and Reserve Members, Military Spouses, Wounded Warriors, and their Caregivers. The position is on-site in Wichita, Kansas.
About the role
As a member of the Accounting team at Spirit AeroSystems, Inc. (a wholly owned subsidiary of The Boeing Company), you will maintain the company’s weekly payments, record journal entries, prepare financial reports, and partner with other business teams to ensure accurate financial information. The role offers opportunities to improve or develop new processes to enhance efficiency or implement new accounting requirements while maintaining an effective system of internal controls.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and submit weekly payments for ACH, Domestic and Foreign Wires, and checks for both commercial and defense businesses.
- Conduct weekly reviews of critical pay suppliers to ensure timely payments.
- Reconcile the Supply Chain Financing Program and serve as the primary contact for that program.
- Collaborate with finance, business teams, and suppliers to resolve payment-related questions.
- Serve as the primary contact for the unclaimed property process and reporting.
- Act as backup for Vendor Master Maintenance and support.
- Complete period-end accounting close activities, including journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and financial report creation.
- Ensure compliance with Sarbanes Oxley (SOX), internal controls, and company procedures.
- Fulfill requests from internal and external audit teams.
Requirements
- High School/GED (minimum education required).
- 3–5 years of experience with a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance, or 1–3 years with an MBA or Master’s in Accounting.
- Advanced Excel and analytical skills, with the ability to organize and analyze large volumes of data.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with diverse teams at different organizational levels.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with SAP or other ERP systems.

Pay
Pay is based on candidate experience, qualifications, market, and business considerations. The pay range for this role (Associate, Level 2) is $55,550 – $85,150.
Eligible employees in Kansas may qualify for a $5,000 state Aviation tax credit for up to five years.
