Associate Accountant - AP Payment Analyst
About the Role
This role is at Spirit AeroSystems, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of The Boeing Company, supporting Spirit’s Commercial Business Units. Spirit Commercial designs and builds commercial aerostructures, including fuselages, pylons, nacelles, and wing components, with a focus on innovative composite and aluminum manufacturing solutions. As a member of the Accounting team, you will maintain the company’s weekly payments, record journal entries, prepare financial reports, and partner with other business teams to ensure accurate financial information. The position also provides opportunities to improve or develop new processes to enhance efficiency or implement new accounting requirements while maintaining an effective system of internal controls.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and submit weekly payments for ACH, Domestic and Foreign Wires, and checks for both commercial and defense businesses.
- Conduct weekly reviews of critical pay suppliers to ensure timely payments.
- Reconcile the Supply Chain Financing Program and serve as the primary contact for that program.
- Work closely with other finance and business teams and suppliers to answer payment-related questions.
- Serve as the primary contact for the unclaimed property process and reporting.
- Act as a backup for Vendor Master Maintenance and support.
- Complete regular tasks related to period-end accounting close activities, including journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and financial report creation.
- Ensure compliance with Sarbanes Oxley (SOX), internal controls, and company procedures.
- Fulfill requests from both internal and external audit teams.
Requirements
- 3-5 years of experience with a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance, or 1-3 years with an MBA or Master’s in Accounting.
- Advanced Excel and analytical skills, with the ability to organize and analyze large volumes of data.
- Strong interpersonal relationship skills and ability to work with diverse teams at different levels of the organization.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work well independently and in a team environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with SAP or other ERP systems.
This position must meet export control compliance requirements. To meet these requirements, a “U.S. Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “U.S. Person” includes U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.
Pay
- Summary Pay Range - Associate (Level 2): $55,550 - $85,150.
- Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.
