About the Role
The Patient Care Assistant (PCA) provides direct patient care and supportive services under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN). The PCA assists in delivering safe, effective, patient-centered care while ensuring a clean, orderly environment and demonstrating service excellence behaviors to promote patient and family satisfaction.
Responsibilities
- Provides direct patient care and supportive services under RN supervision.
- Assists in maintaining a clean and orderly patient care environment.
- Demonstrates service excellence to enhance patient and family satisfaction.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.
- Crisis Prevention Institute training within 90 days of hire or transfer and then annually (required for the Psychiatric unit only).
- Less than one year of experience.
Skills
- Demonstrates teamwork and professional communication with the healthcare team.
- Ability to learn and apply hospital computer technologies and procedures related to patient care.
- Knowledge of basic medical terminology and standard precautions.
- Ability to read and write in English.
Qualifications
Provides care for patients of all age groups.
