Responsibilities

Primary Responsibilities

  • Supervises, counsels, and evaluates Caregivers.
  • Prepares Caregivers’ daily work assignments, ensuring efficient and equitable distribution of work.
  • Conducts daily care plan meetings at the change of shifts.
  • Supervises, counsels, and evaluates LPNs and the medicine pass process as applicable.
  • Manages all areas of the Medication Room.
  • Updates and coordinates care plans with the Unit Coordinator/Administrator.
  • Maintains schedules for visiting physicians and coordinates appointments for elders.
  • Identifies needed in-services and coordinates their programming with the Unit Coordinator/Administrator.
  • Provides for or oversees nursing treatments provided in the facility.
  • Oversees the daily census and ensures its accuracy.
  • Works with the Administrator to ensure payroll accuracy.
  • Oversees day-to-day operations of the unit to meet the needs of elders in compliance with individual care plans.
  • Oversees and assists in calls to doctors regarding orders, pharmacy, diets, test results, and follow-ups.
  • Reviews physician’s orders with Medication Administration Records monthly; oversees match back of med carts to MARS weekly; reviews monthly ADL orders for accuracy.

Secondary Responsibilities

  • Maintains Administrator II License through the Board of Examiners for Assisted Living Administrators for the State of Alabama.
  • Prepares weekly work schedules for Caregivers and LPNs.
  • Assists with tours and marketing calls as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Nursing license: ALF RN/LPN – SCALF RN.
  • Experience working in a medical office environment using medical terminology.
  • Demonstrated ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate the assisted living program philosophy and goals.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to relate successfully to a variety of people and customer needs.
  • Demonstrated initiative, judgment, and leadership skills.
  • Must successfully complete DETA Brain Series, First Aid Training, and CPR.
  • Current license in good standing with the State of Alabama.
  • Minimum two years’ experience as a supervisor in a healthcare setting.
  • Experience as a charge nurse in a nursing facility or supervisor of nursing in an assisted living setting.
