About the Role
This 12-month position assists the Head Women’s Volleyball Coach in developing and executing recruitment strategies to build a regionally and nationally competitive team. The Assistant Coach organizes and directs all aspects of the Women’s Volleyball program, including practice sessions, staff supervision, and administrative duties. Additionally, this role serves as a Housing Supervisor in Student Housing, participating in an on-call duty rotation.
Responsibilities
- General:
- Ensures the safeguarding of all confidential files.
- Attends and participates in all required training.
- Maintains a positive and cooperative work attitude and environment.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned in support of the College’s mission and goals.
- Submits Student of Concern reports when necessary.
- Contributes to a respectful and inclusive work environment.
- Reports to work on time and maintains professionalism.
- Drives a college vehicle for airport pickups and local travel.
- Works outside of standard Monday-Friday hours, including evenings, nights, and weekends.
- Coaching:
- Schedules and conducts regular practice sessions in and out of season.
- Assists the Head Coach during scheduled events and implements performance strategies.
- Directs and manages assistant coaches, including training and delegation of responsibilities.
- Coordinates administrative tasks such as team travel, equipment inventory, and scheduling.
- Develops knowledge of volleyball strategies and seeks innovative methods.
- Assists in recruiting quality student-athletes and maintains relationships with faculty and staff.
- Monitors academic progress of student-athletes to ensure eligibility.
- Submits traveling squad lists to faculty in advance of missed classes.
- Attends college functions and promotes public relations with media, civic groups, and boosters.
- Enforces rules regarding student conduct, appearance, and attendance.
- Serves as a mentor to students and assistant coaches.
- Coordinates scholarship and financial aid paperwork, ensuring compliance with eligibility requirements.
- Oversees the production of press guides, programs, and recruiting brochures.
- Supervises Resident Assistant Coaches and work-study students.
- Housing Supervisor:
- Participates in an on-call duty rotation.
- Communicates with college and Bluffstone personnel.
- Submits reports and documentation in a timely manner.
- Reports violations of housing rules, student code of conduct, and parking regulations.
- Attends housing meetings and assists with room checks.
- Supports resolution of roommate conflicts and assists students with lockouts.
- Performs fire alarm functions and assists in emergency evacuations.
Requirements
- Associate degree from a regionally accredited institution.
- Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with a diverse student population.
- Valid Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) or authorization for one.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree.
- 1 year of coaching experience.
- 1 year of recruiting experience.
- 1 year of Housing & Residence Life experience.
- Demonstrated commitment to community development.

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions
- Light work with occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds.

- Work may be performed outdoors in various weather conditions (hot/cold, rain, snow).
- Exposure to elements such as dirt, fumes, and loud noises.
