Assistant Women's Soccer Coach (Part-time)

About the role

The Assistant Women’s Soccer Coach instructs and develops student-athletes in alignment with the university’s academic mission, supporting the head coach in all aspects of the athletic program. This part-time, 10-month exempt position is ideal for individuals passionate about athletics and does not require prior coaching experience.

Responsibilities

• Coaching/Teaching (80%):
  • Instruct student-athletes in the rules, techniques, and strategies of soccer during practices and competitive events.
  • Provide direct feedback and mentorship to enhance athletic performance, sportsmanship, and academic growth.
  • Promote the physical and mental well-being of all student-athletes.
• Secondary Duties (20%):
  • Provide game-day support for other athletic programs as assigned (e.g., logistical assistance, bench support, event coordination).
  • Assist with recruiting strategies to attract academically and athletically qualified student-athletes.
  • Support the planning and execution of practices, training sessions, and game strategies.
  • Participate in fundraising, promotional events, speaking engagements, and alumni outreach as approved by program leadership.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree with no experience or three years of relevant playing and/or coaching experience.
• Comprehensive knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations, with the ability to maintain compliance.
• Strong coaching and instructional skills, with clear communication and organizational abilities.
• Ability to mentor student-athletes and foster an inclusive team culture.
• Valid driver’s license and qualification under the university’s insurance program to operate university vehicles.
• CPR, AED, and First Aid certification required.
• Designated as a Campus Security Authority (CSA) under the Clery Act; must complete annual training and report relevant disclosures.

Physical Demands

• Ability to remain stationary (sitting/standing) and move about athletic facilities or campus grounds.
• Engage in practice sessions, game-day activities, and occasional event setup, including lifting/moving equipment up to 50 pounds (with or without accommodation).
• Effective communication in one-on-one and group settings, including verbal instruction and feedback.
• Regular travel and ability to work indoors/outdoors in varied weather conditions.
• Sustain physical engagement during practices and competitions, including demonstrating techniques and providing on-field feedback.
