Assistant Women's Basketball Coach

About the Role

This position assists the head coach with the intercollegiate women's basketball program, including coaching, recruiting qualified student athletes, fundraising, camps, developing schedules, budget management, building community support, monitoring academic progress of student athletes, and ensuring knowledge of applicable NCAA rules.

The role reports to the head women's basketball coach and has no direct supervisory responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Coach the women's basketball team and assist in overseeing all aspects of the program, including practices, competition, and scheduling.
• Assist in the recruiting plan, evaluate, and recruit qualified student athletes.
• Support fundraising activities to enhance the program.
• Monitor class schedules, grades, and academic progress of student athletes.
• Model good sportsmanship and enforce sportsmanlike behavior among student athletes.
• Assist administration with alumni relations.
• Adhere to all rules and regulations set forth by the team, the College, the MIAA, and the NCAA with integrity.
• Work cooperatively with athletic department personnel, attend department meetings, and represent the College positively in interactions with the community, alumni, high school and club coaches, media, and the public.
• Support the philosophy and mission of the College and the athletic department.
• Develop student-athletes to be contributing members of the campus and broader community.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the head women's basketball coach or athletic director.

Requirements

• Collegiate level playing and/or coaching experience.
• Knowledge of NCAA Division III and MIAA compliance and conference rules, and an understanding of the NCAA Division III student-athlete philosophy.
• Ability to work evenings and weekends, along with travel.
• A valid driver's license and good driving record.
• Ability to fulfill the essential functions of the position.

• Experience working with underrepresented, first-generation, Pell-eligible, and diverse populations.
