About the role

Join us as an Assistant Vice President, Excess Claims to contribute to the transformation of how we help customers manage risk. Handle some of the largest and most complex Casualty claims in the industry, utilizing your deep technical claims expertise.

Responsibilities

  • Investigate, evaluate, and disposition of new and existing 3rd party property and casualty claims
  • Review coverage under Excess Commercial General liability and auto policies
  • Participate in the investigation of the claim
  • Direct litigation, attend mediations and trials
  • Assess liability and damages, and recommend reserves
  • Present large value cases to senior management
  • Communicate with insureds, brokers, attorneys, and claimants
  • Document exposure evaluation and resolution strategy
  • Present claim disposition recommendations to senior management
  • Obtain appropriate authority to independently negotiate multimillion-dollar claims
  • Document evaluation, thought process, and strategy
  • Utilize ADR as appropriate and necessary
  • Effectively strategize and budget litigation of each claim
  • Establish clear ground rules with defense and coverage counsel to maintain financial control

Requirements

  • 8+ years of Commercial/Industry claims experience preferred
  • Excellent communication ability (verbal/written) and strong negotiation skills
  • Advanced experience and capabilities in litigation claims management including ADR and mediation process
  • Experience attending and controlling claims - pre-suit, litigated and post-trial - at mediations, settlement conferences, etc.
  • Property and Casualty adjusting licenses required and must be obtained within 6 months
  • JD helpful but not required
