Responsibilities

  • End-to-end management and direct handling of primary and excess casualty liability claims according to policy coverage and state requirements.
  • Identify, evaluate, and analyze coverage issues; prepare comprehensive coverage letters for claims handled directly by Ascot.
  • Work closely with outside counsel to develop cost-effective litigation management strategies for optimal outcomes.
  • Maintain proactive oversight of retained outside vendors and their billing practices.
  • Negotiate settlement of claims within designated authority level.
  • Deliver presentations to internal business partners and external clients on Casualty claims severity and trends.
  • Travel to attend mediations, industry conferences, settlement and claim conferences, trials, depositions, and assist with Ascot’s marketing efforts.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 10 years of Casualty Claims experience.
  • Experience handling high-exposure claims and complex towers of insurance coverage.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple projects.
  • Demonstrated teamwork, deadline management, and adaptability in a changing work environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Excellent interpersonal communication and negotiation skills.
  • Strong skills in evaluating high-exposure and complex claims.
  • Strong collaboration and partnership skills.
  • High degree of influencing skills.
  • Multiple adjusters’ licenses or willingness to obtain licenses where needed.
  • Juris Doctorate Degree preferred, but not required.
  • Availability for occasional travel.

This position may be filled at a different level, depending on experience.

Pay

The annualized base pay range for this role is $170,000 – $180,000. Actual base pay may vary based on factors including experience, expertise, and skills. Base pay is one component of Ascot’s total compensation package, which may also include annual cash bonuses and other discretionary awards.
