Overview
Overseeing the Meruelo Family Center for Career Development, the Assistant Vice President for Career and Professional Development will set a bold vision that honors Notre Dame’s rich traditions while embracing innovation and emerging opportunities in the evolving world of work.
- Lead a talented and dedicated team in delivering comprehensive, inclusive, and highly personalized career services that support students across all colleges, schools, and degree programs.
- Empower staff to deliver exceptional career advising, programming, employer engagement, and strategic partnerships.
- Ensure that career development is deeply integrated into the student experience and aligned with the University’s mission.
- Influence institutional strategy, deepen partnerships across the University, strengthen employer and alumni engagement, expand access to transformative experiences such as internships and career treks, and build on Notre Dame’s exceptional reputation for preparing graduates to be a force for good in the world.
Qualifications
To succeed in this role, candidates should possess:
- A minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in career development, preferably in a higher education setting.
- A proven track record of developing and implementing innovative career services and programming.
- Experience in building and leading a team of career professionals.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to engage with diverse populations and foster a collaborative environment.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Knowledge of best practices in career development and a commitment to continuous improvement.
- Experience in strategic planning and partnership-building.
- Ability to articulate the value of career development and its role in student success.
