About the role
We're looking for an Assistant Utility Operator to join our FCC Environmental - South Broward County Waste to Energy facility. This position involves monitoring and operating air pollution control equipment and ash handling systems.
Responsibilities
- Maintain and operate air pollution control and ash handling systems
- Conduct equipment inspections and make necessary adjustments
- Document shift logs and round sheets
- Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs
- Communicate status of plant operations and address equipment issues
- Work closely with maintenance to troubleshoot problems
- Ensure work areas are kept clean and organized
- Interpret data from meters and gauges
- Communicate effectively verbally and in writing
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- 2 years working in a power plant operation or related experience
- Knowledge and understanding of steam generating power plant operations
- Mechanical abilities to perform minor equipment maintenance
- Ability to work rotating shifts and overtime
- Ability to handle tools and perform fine motor skills
- Physical ability to lift/carry 50lbs and work in various weather conditions
- Ability to wear a full-face respirator and access confined spaces
