About the role

The United States Attorney's Office for the Southern District of Iowa seeks an experienced attorney to serve as an Assistant United States Attorney in the Criminal Division. This position is located in Des Moines.

Responsibilities

• Handle a wide variety of complex cases, including drug trafficking and money laundering crimes, terrorism-related offenses, firearms and other violent crime offenses, child exploitation and sex trafficking, cyber-crimes, immigration crimes, and financial fraud and white-collar offenses.
• Prosecute cases at all phases, including grand jury investigations, pre-trial proceedings, trials and sentencing hearings, and appeals.

Requirements

• Must possess a J.D. degree and be an active member of the bar (any jurisdiction).
• At least two years of post-J.D. legal or other relevant experience, with at least three years of post-J.D. litigation experience preferred.
• Must reside in the district to which appointed or within 25 miles thereof. See 28 U.S.C. 545 for district-specific information.
• Must meet all qualification requirements upon the closing date of this announcement.
• Must be registered for Selective Service, if applicable.

Qualifications

• Required qualifications: J.D. degree, active member of the bar, at least two years of post-J.D. legal or other relevant experience, and at least three years of post-J.D. litigation experience.
• Preferred qualifications: Superior oral and written communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, good judgment, ability to function with minimal guidance, and a demonstrated record of integrity.

Pay

Assistant United States Attorney's pay is administratively determined based, in part, on the number of years of professional attorney experience. The range of basic pay is $77,371 to $197,100 includes locality pay.
