About the role
The mission of the Department of Justice is to uphold the rule of law, keep our country safe, and protect civil rights. You will be part of a dedicated team helping to enforce Federal criminal and civil laws that protect life, liberty and the property of citizens.
Responsibilities
- Work on your own caseload and handle your own trials.
- Represent the United States' interests by investigating and bringing affirmative civil actions, including under the False Claims Act, Financial Institutions Reform, Recovery, and Enforcement Act of 1989, the Anti-Kickback Statute, and other statutes and common law causes of action.
- Handle matters in bankruptcy court.
Qualifications
- A J.D. degree and active member of the bar (any U.S. jurisdiction) required.
- You must reside in the district to which appointed or within 25 miles thereof.
- Required Qualifications: Superior oral and written communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, good judgment, and minimal guidance in a highly demanding environment.
- Preferred Qualifications: Direct experience litigating civil cases in the federal courts and/or a federal judicial clerkship.

Pay
Salary Information: Assistant United States Attorney's pay is administratively determined based, in part, on the number of years of professional attorney experience. The range of basic pay is $65,563 to $171,487, which will include the following locality pay based on the location selection listed below:
