About the Role
Successful candidates will support the Head Coach in developing and executing a comprehensive athletic program. Responsibilities include practice planning, academic support for student-athletes, program administration, and fostering communication with stakeholders across the school and community.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Head Coach in developing a well-organized practice schedule that utilizes staff at all levels.
- Support the creation of a well-defined academic plan to enhance student-athlete academic performance.
- Cooperate with athletic and school administration to provide a quality athletic experience.
- Maximize practice time for individual and team development.
- Provide supervision and administration of locker rooms, training rooms, and bus trips.
- Assist in the summer/offseason program to develop skills and strength.
- Maintain program records, including eligibility, registration, match scores, and other required paperwork.
- Participate in planning and preparations for banquets and team events to recognize athlete accomplishments.
- Oversee the care, issuance, collection, inventory, and storage of athletic equipment.
- Communicate with administration regarding equipment requests, budget needs, and unusual events.
- Follow district procedures for equipment purchases and operate within the budget.
- Attend all-conference meetings as needed and ensure compliance with IHSA requests.
- Maintain communication with feeder coaches, programs, parents, athletes, and transportation services both within and outside the season.
Requirements
- PEL or certified coach certification.
- ASEP certification and/or substitute certification required.
