Assistant Coach, Track and Field
About the Role
The University at Buffalo is seeking a highly motivated part-time Assistant Track & Field Coach with an emphasis on the Throws Events. This position operates under the guidance of the Director of Track & Field/Cross Country and requires the ability to build and maintain positive relationships with a diverse group of student-athletes, staff, and alumni. A high level of knowledge and understanding of NCAA Division 1 rules and regulations is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a year-round training program for the Throws Program.
- Create daily training plans to successfully teach all fundamentals required by the sport and specific position.
- Oversee the academic success of student-athletes and work cooperatively with Student-Athlete Academic Services.
- Support the well-being of student-athletes in cooperation with Sports Performance, Sports Medicine, and other departments providing health and wellness resources.
- Recruit student-athletes who can contribute athletically to the program and reflect the academic standards of UB.
- Effectively recruit within assigned areas, including evaluations, phone calls, contacts with high school/club coaches, setting up unofficial and official visits, and conducting home visits and evaluations.
- Work with the Director to determine priority recruits and scholarship offers.
- Perform various administrative duties as assigned, which may include:
- Program fundraising.
- Equipment ordering and inventory management, including working with the equipment room manager and Director to evaluate, order, and maintain accurate records.
- Home meet management.
- Travel weekdays and weekends as required.
Schedule
This is a part-time, 10-month position. The work schedule includes evenings and weekends.
