About the Role
Student employee will assist in the day-to-day functional operations of the SMC Bands.
Responsibilities
- Distribute, file, and collect music for all ensembles.
- Copy and distribute parts as needed.
- Maintain/update the music library database.
- Assist in rehearsal and performance set-up.
- Assist in maintaining and promoting a social media presence for SMC Band events.
- Assist with Solo and Ensemble Festivals and other Performing Arts activities on campus.
- Monitor and fill humidifiers on all school pianos.
- Assist Director of Bands with other administrative duties, as requested.
The duties listed are not all-inclusive; additional duties may be assigned by a supervisor.
Requirements
- Current SMC Student.
- Must be enrolled at the College on a full-time or part-time basis (minimum of 6 credit hours during fall and spring semesters and 3 credit hours during the summer semester). Dual-enrolled high-school students are eligible if they meet the credit hour requirement.
- OR enrolled or continuing education with a four-year College partner on the SMC campus, with a minimum of 6 credit hours (at least 1 SMC credit hour) during fall and spring semesters, and 3 credit hours (at least 1 SMC credit hour) during summer semester.
- Must maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0 to be eligible for student employment.
Preferred Qualifications
- SMC Music Student.
- Experience in a collaborative work environment.
- Basic computer skills.
- Ability to work independently and with limited direction.
Physical Requirements
Must be able to complete the following with or without a reasonable accommodation:
- Climbing: Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles, and the like.
- Balancing: Maintaining body equilibrium on narrow, slippery, or erratically moving surfaces.
- Stooping: Bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist.
- Kneeling: Bending legs at knee to rest on knee or knees.
- Crouching: Bending the body downward and forward by bending leg and spine.
- Reaching: Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.

This position involves light work and requires no substantial exposure to adverse environmental conditions.
