About the Role
The Assistant Team Leader of Operations assists the Warehouse Supervisor and Shipping Supervisor by utilizing available resources to ensure all warehouse operational tasks are completed safely and efficiently. This role provides direction to employees, prioritizes work, and covers for the Warehouse Supervisor, Shipping Supervisor, or Distribution Managers as needed.
Responsibilities
- Monitor all warehousing, shipping, and production activities, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and condition of incoming/outgoing shipments, work orders, and finished good putaway.
- Consult with management to clarify department priorities, identify concerns, and suggest improvements.
- Recommend and/or implement measures to increase productivity.
- Maintain and track team metrics and key performance indicators.
- Ensure adherence to all applicable Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Support and maintain a positive work environment through a commitment to employee relations.
- Train, lead, and instruct team members.
- Serve as backup for East and West Coast Distribution Centers.
- Collaborate cross-functionally for problem-solving.
- Promote and assure execution of PCCA values, culture, and quality.
- Pull work orders for production.
- Pick, pack, and ship customer orders, distribution orders, and international orders.
- Schedule shipment times and modes of transportation for materials.
- Travel up to 20% of the time.
- Assist with related special projects as assigned.
- Ensure department objectives align with corporate objectives.
Requirements
- High School Diploma.
- Five years of experience in a warehouse environment.
- Prior experience in a customer-focused environment.
- Excellent interpersonal, team-building, and communication skills.
- Strong time management and multitasking skills in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities.
- Intermediate computer skills in Windows, Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to work with team members at all levels to facilitate problem-solving and continuous improvement.
- Willingness and ability to travel multiple times a year, including weekends and holidays, as needed.
- Willingness and ability to work a rotating schedule.
- SharePoint experience (a plus).
- Forklift Certification (a plus).
Physical Requirements
- Maintaining body equilibrium to prevent falling when walking, standing, or crouching on narrow, slippery, or erratically moving surfaces.
- Bending legs downward and forward by bending leg and spine.
- Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for long distances.
- Using upper extremities to exert force to draw, drag, haul, or tug objects in sustained motion.
- Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally to lift, carry, pull, or otherwise move objects.
- Raising objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally.
- Standing, particularly for sustained periods of time.
- Substantial movements (motion) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers in a repetitive manner.
- Using upper extremities to press against something with steady force to thrust forward, downward, or outward.
- Ascending or descending stairs, ramps, ladders, scaffolding, and the like, using feet and legs and/or hands and arms.
