Assistant Team Lead - Corrosion Service Team

About the Role

The Corrosion Service Teams (CSTs) Assistant Team Lead (ATL) is a key member of the CST, trained as a CST technician and prepared to assume the responsibilities of the CST Team Lead (TL) when required. The CST ATL manages the Corrosion Prevention and Control (CPAC) program policy, procedures, and personnel, performs preventive maintenance, and ensures effective team communication and problem-solving.

Responsibilities

• Follow applicable safety procedures, including proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
• Operate Corrosion Prevention Compound (CPC) application equipment, including compressors, application guns, grinders, and vacuums.
• Apply CPCs on various types of military and support equipment as directed.
• Accurately identify Marine Corps Corrosion Category Codes 1-5, the 4 stages of corrosion, and their correlation.
• Perform equipment corrosion assessments using both paper and electronic versions of the Marine Corps CPAC Program Corrosion Assessment Checklist (CAC).
• Perform surface preparation and touch-up procedures on military and support equipment.
• Conduct routine maintenance of CPAC equipment.
• Travel as required to perform duties.
• Maintain and review CPAC program publications and policy letters to ensure compliance.
• Ensure proper use of PPE by CST team members and maintain team appearance standards.
• Inspect, evaluate, and correct work accomplished by the CST team.
• Maintain awareness of current CPAC CST program policies and procedures among team members.
• Maintain Material Safety Data Sheets for all products used by the CST team.
• Conduct and maintain monthly inventory of accountable items and requisition as necessary.
• Ensure all accountable items are clean and operational.
• Manage, conduct, and track CST team training (weekly, monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, and annual).
• Complete and submit all reporting requirements on time.

Requirements

• Hold or be capable of passing a background check for Defense Biometric Identification System credentials.
• Hold or be capable of obtaining a Secret clearance prior to accessing classified information.
• Possess a US Passport, Real ID, or a driver’s license and social security card/original-notarized birth certificate for base access.
• Knowledge of mechanical systems.
• Ability to take directions and perform corrective action plans.
• Ability to multitask, prioritize, and delegate tasks.
• Strong understanding and ability to follow instructions and communicate effectively.
• Ability to work well on a team.
• Strong supervisory and leadership skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
• Possess a valid state driver’s license.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent, and/or a vocational degree.
• Two years of experience related to CPAC Programs with documented experience in Corrosion Service Team operations, or approval by the COR.
• Successful completion of annual CPAC recertification.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

• Lift up to 50 pounds safely during short durations.
• Mount and dismount military and support equipment of varying heights safely during moderate durations.
• Work in outdoor weather conditions (hot, cold, rain, etc.) during long durations.
• Wear and use company-provided PPE, including safety goggles, hand protection, and respirator equipment.
• Wear a dust mask or fitted respirator for tasks involving CPCs and/or surface preparation and touch-up paint.
• Undergo an annual OSHA 1910.134 App A Quantitative Respirator Fit Test.
