Assistant Teaching Professor - Nursing
Expected start date: August 24, 2026. Department: Nursing and Health Studies. This position is a full-time, 9-month, non-tenure track academic year, Instructional Academic Staff appointment. The home campus is Green Bay; occasional teaching or work at the Sheboygan or Manitowoc Campus may be required based on operational needs.
About the role
The College of Health, Education and Social Welfare at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay seeks an Assistant Teaching Professor in Nursing & Health Studies. The successful applicant will contribute to an academic unit that embraces a team-based approach and innovative teaching methods to develop students who can think critically while delivering high-quality care. This position will enhance UW-Green Bay’s mission-driven inclusive teaching efforts and create an educational environment that acknowledges, encourages, and celebrates diverse identities, beliefs, and cultural backgrounds.
Responsibilities
- Teach courses in didactic, skills/simulation, and clinical settings.
- Advise and mentor students on academic and career direction within nursing and health studies.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with acute and long-term care healthcare clinical sites.
- Contribute to the ongoing programmatic development of the Nursing & Health Studies programs.
- Facilitate optimal learning through integration of technology and utilization of appropriate delivery methods.
- Implement inclusive instructional strategies to increase support for students from underrepresented and first-generation backgrounds.
Requirements
- Earned Master's Degree in Nursing from an accredited institution prior to start date. Individuals enrolled in an MSN program and completing final program requirements may be considered.
- 2 years of recent nursing experience.
- Unencumbered Wisconsin Nursing license at time of hire.
- Working knowledge of PC software in a Windows environment.
- Demonstrated potential for excellence in teaching.
Preferred Qualifications
- Teaching experience, preferably in nursing.
- Recent clinical nursing experience with preference given for experience in medical-surgical, maternity, pediatrics, or critical care.
Conditions of Appointment
- A pre-employment education check, including verification of academic credentials, will be conducted on the finalist(s).
- A criminal conviction investigation will be conducted on the finalist(s).
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States at the time of hire and maintain work authorization throughout employment; the University does not offer H-1B or other work authorization visa sponsorship for this position.
