About the role
Serves as a support to Head and Associate Teachers in a child development center, preparing activities and guiding staff.
Responsibilities
- Supports the Head Teacher in planning and implementing a child development program for a class of children.
- Acts as supervisor when Head Teacher and Associate Teacher are not in the classroom.
- Maintains a safe classroom environment conducive to learning and engagement.
- Guides student and temporary workers.
Requirements
- High School Diploma/GED or equivalent.
- Two years of verified experience with young children OR 15 credits in a human service field and one year of verified experience with young children.
Qualifications
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 40 pounds.
- Must be able to traverse over rough or uneven surfaces, bend, stoop, and traverse space quickly.
- Must maintain 12 hours of professional development annually.
- Maintain all DHS, NAEYC, Keystone STARS requirements.
- Attend all five professional development days at UCDC annually.
Skills
- Ability to work effectively with children aged 6 weeks to 5 years.
- Strong communication skills.
- Ability to maintain a safe and engaging classroom environment.

M-F 7:30-5:30 (37.5 hours varied schedule)
