The Assistant Teacher role at Cardinal Hickey Academy in Owings, Maryland is for the 2026-27 school year. It is a full-time position reporting directly to the Principal.

Responsibilities

• Educate students in accordance with the approved curriculum and school mission.
• Create a safe, orderly, and Catholic learning environment.
• Affirm and support Catholic beliefs, traditions, and practices.
• Engage in social justice teachings and perform service to others.
• Plan and lead prayer sessions in the classroom.
• Attend and participate in Catholic liturgical ceremonies.
• Collaborate with the classroom teacher to develop lesson plans.
• Prepare and present instructional lessons for individual and small groups.
• Support and enforce classroom procedures to maximize instructional time.
• Maintain a positive learning environment based on mutual respect and cooperation.
• Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs of all students.
• Communicate with the classroom teacher about student progress and expectations.
• Perform non-instructional duties such as carpooling, recess, lunch supervision, and substitute teaching.
• Sponsor school clubs and activities.
• Attend Home and School meetings and other school events.
• Participate in faculty and professional development meetings.
