Assistant Teacher - Baltimore County Head Start

About the role

The Y Head Start Assistant Teacher position contributes to the Y's mission by implementing curriculum to achieve outcomes for children of all abilities, ensuring successful operation of the program, and fostering the social, emotional, physical, cognitive, and creative development of each child.

Responsibilities

• Work collaboratively with classroom teachers, center administration, family advocates, and family members to implement curriculum
• Ensure safety, supervision, and regulatory compliance in multiple classrooms
• Ensure the health, welfare, and safety of children in the program
• Create an environment that fosters the social, emotional, physical, cognitive, and creative development of each child
• Contribute to the Y and the broader community by helping economically disadvantaged children prepare for success in school and life

Requirements

• An interest in the well-being and education of young children
• Enthusiasm, patience, good humor, good judgment, and a good spirit
• Prior early childhood experience
• The ability to clearly communicate and effectively listen to children, parents/guardians, members, and other Y associates
• A Child Development Associate certification
• A 90 hour child care certification and 9 hours in communication
