Substitute Teacher - Baltimore County Head Start

About the Role

As a Y Substitute Teacher for Head Start, you will work collaboratively with the classroom teacher to ensure the successful operation of a classroom. You will be called upon when needed and asked to work at various locations throughout the Y’s Head Start areas of operation. You’ll be responsible for ensuring the health, welfare, and safety of the children in the program. You will contribute to creating an environment that fosters the social, emotional, physical, cognitive, and creative development of each child in your care.

This role supports the Y’s mission by working with economically disadvantaged children to help them prepare for success in school and life.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the classroom teacher to maintain successful classroom operations.
• Ensure the health, welfare, and safety of children in the program.
• Foster an environment that supports children’s social, emotional, physical, cognitive, and creative development.
• Communicate effectively with children, parents/guardians, members, and other Y associates.

Requirements

• Interest in the well-being and education of young children.
• Enthusiasm, patience, good humor, good judgment, and a positive spirit.
• One year of early childhood experience.
• 90 Hour Child Care Certificate or a minimum of an Associate’s degree in Early Childhood Education.
