Head Start Substitute Teacher - Baltimore County

About the Role

As a Y Substitute Teacher for Head Start, you will work collaboratively with the classroom teacher to ensure the successful operation of a classroom. You will be called upon when needed and may work at various locations throughout the Y’s Head Start areas of operation. You’ll contribute to creating an environment that fosters the social, emotional, physical, cognitive, and creative development of each child in your care while ensuring their health, welfare, and safety.

This role supports the Y’s mission by working with economically disadvantaged children to help them prepare for success in school and life.

Responsibilities

• Support classroom operations in collaboration with the lead teacher.
• Ensure the health, welfare, and safety of children in the program.
• Foster the social, emotional, physical, cognitive, and creative development of each child.
• Communicate effectively with children, parents/guardians, members, and other Y associates.

Requirements

• Interest in the well-being and education of young children.
• Enthusiasm, patience, good humor, good judgment, and a positive spirit.
• Prior early childhood experience (infant and toddler).
• 90 Hour Child Care Certificate or an Associate’s degree in Early Childhood Education.
