ASSISTANT SUPERVISOR, Caseworker - Detention

About the Role

Under the direction of the unit supervisor, provides supervision to probation officers processing cases under the jurisdiction of the Juvenile Court and Juvenile Services. Supervises probation officers' appropriate actions through observation, consultation, and review of documentation. Ensures that the directives of the Court and policies are followed, problem-solving and overseeing the delivery of services to clients under the department’s supervision.

Responsibilities

• Provides in-service training for probation officers.
• Assigns cases to the probation officers.
• Conducts audits and reviews the progress of all current cases.
• Directs the development of case management plans.
• Ensures that necessary data is collected.
• Ensures that court reports are properly prepared for court.
• Serves on the department Resource Staffing Committee.
• Serves as a liaison between Juvenile Services and the Courts, Social Services Agencies, Schools, and other professional disciplines.
• Evaluates employee performance and formulates plans for improvements.
• Provides coverage and ancillary support for staff absences.
• Assists in the absence of the supervisor.
• Performs all other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree.
• Minimum of two years full-time casework, counseling, or community group work.
• Must possess a valid Texas Driver's License and proof of liability insurance.
• Ability to obtain certification by the Texas Juvenile Justice Department.

Bilingual abilities in Spanish are preferred.
