Assistant Supervisor
Job Overview
The Assistant Supervisor is responsible for supporting the production supervisor in overseeing the manufacturing operations and assisting in coordinating a team of lead operators and production personnel ensuring production targets are met, quality standards are maintained, and safety protocols are followed. The Assistant Supervisor will also be involved in process optimization, training, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Essential Functions & Key Responsibilities
- Aid the production supervisor with highest level technical guidance ensuring adherence to production schedules, quality standards, and safety protocols.
- Provide support and guidance to team members, ensuring they have the necessary resources to perform their tasks effectively.
- Maintain production progress, identify bottlenecks or issues impacting productivity, and take appropriate actions to address them.
- Coordinate with the production supervisor to ensure efficient scheduling and allocation of resources to meet production targets.
- Participate in production planning meetings, providing input and insights to optimize production processes.
- Monitor and track product quality throughout the production process, ensuring compliance with quality standards and customer specifications.
- Investigate and resolve quality issues, working with the team to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
- Train new Lead operators on production processes, equipment operation, and safety protocols.
- Support the ongoing training and development of existing team members, ensuring they have the necessary skills to perform their roles effectively.
- Collaborate with the production supervisor to identify training needs and opportunities for skills enhancement.
- Promote a strong safety culture, ensuring that all team members adhere to safety protocols and guidelines.
- Participate in regular safety inspections, identifying potential hazards, and taking appropriate actions to maintain a safe working environment.
- Guide and assist with machine troubleshooting.
Qualifications
- A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
- Ability to work independently as well as working with others effectively as a part of a team is essential.
- Good verbal & interpersonal communication skills; ability to work well in group situations; ability to deal effectively with conflict in mature & consistent manner.
- Flexibility to work overtime and off shifts as needed.
- Must be able to stand for 10-12 hours due to the nature of the work.
- Must be able to wear the required PPE to enter the plant/complete the tasks.
