Assistant Superintendent

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise, schedule, and train a staff of full-time, part-time, and seasonal employees.
• Schedule and implement maintenance practices and projects under the supervision of the Golf Course Superintendent.
• Apply fertilizers and plant protectants, including calibration sprayers and spreaders.
• Record all applications and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
• Perform irrigation scheduling and make basic irrigation repairs.
• Perform basic mowing tasks and cultural practices when needed.
• Safely operate golf course equipment including but not limited to carts, mowers, rollers, rakes, loaders, automobiles, etc.
• Maintain awareness and communication of changing course conditions, recognize problems, and maintenance needs with the Superintendent.

Requirements

• Valid Driver License
• Two-year certificate, associate degree, or bachelor’s degree in Turf Grass Management or related field preferred.
• Ability to obtain NC pesticide license within six (6) months of employment.
• One to three years golf course maintenance experience.
