About the role

As an Assistant Store Team Leader, you'll support the Store Team Leader in running the day-to-day operations of the store, leading the team by example, and delivering exceptional, neighborly service at every opportunity.

Responsibilities

  • Support and lead your team by example, delivering exceptional, neighborly service
  • Jump in to greet neighbors and their pets and create a welcoming in-store experience
  • Aid customers in choosing the best products for their pets' needs
  • Support store performance including sales, engagement, and overall productivity
  • Analyze results and partner with leadership on plans to improve performance
  • Aid with hiring, onboarding, and developing a strong team
  • Provide ongoing coaching, feedback, and support to team members
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and well-run store environment (including animal care and safety)
  • Create a fun, positive culture where both pets and people feel at home

Requirements and Responsibilities

  • 2+ years of retail or customer-facing leadership experience
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience preferred (High School Diploma/GED required)
  • Strong communication and leadership skills
  • Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office or similar tools
  • Ability to lift up to 65 lbs and perform physical tasks (climbing, bending, kneeling)
  • Ability to operate store equipment as needed
  • Reliable transportation and ability to work flexible schedules
  • Must be 18+ years old and able to meet hiring requirements set by the local franchise owner
