About the role

The Assistant Manager role at Sally Beauty is a leadership position that supports the Store Manager in managing and developing a team of associates. Key responsibilities include supervising daily activities to enhance customer experiences, ensuring brand standards are met, and managing store operations.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and support the direction and planning of associates' daily goals and activities to deliver exceptional client experiences.
  • Support the Store Manager in achieving key performance indicators and financial targets through business analysis, action planning, effective communication, and consistent accountability.
  • Ensure all brand standards are met, including merchandising, POS guidelines, marketing, back rooms, dress code, etc.
  • Act as the main point of contact to resolve customer issues and concerns.
  • Analyze store trends and anticipate customer demands.
  • Engage, train, and develop the team to achieve positive results.
  • Leverage internal hiring platforms and actively recruit to build a strong network of external candidates to fill positions when required.
  • Identify strengths and opportunities for each associate and address them through coaching or counseling.
  • Hold the team accountable to company policies and expectations.
  • Maintain positive associate relations by resolving concerns and keeping associates informed of relevant company information.
  • Foster an environment of diversity, inclusion, and belonging.
  • Maintain consistency and timeliness in communication with the Store Manager.
  • Manage inventory through ordering and shipment processing.
  • Manage payroll hours to meet the business's needs and schedule appropriately.
  • Ensure all store opening and closing procedures are performed correctly.
  • Timely and accurately follow through with company directives, assignments, and projects.
  • Ensure the store environment is safe at all times for associates and customers; enforce all policies and procedures.
  • Protect company assets by following inventory and cash control procedures related to shrink, damages, banking, etc.
  • Analyze and utilize available reporting, tools, and technology.
  • Ensure stores are compliant with all HAZMAT training and execution.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Minimum 3+ years retail sales/customer service experience preferred
  • At least 1+ year(s) prior management experience preferred
  • Ability to lead or support a team of associates to meet business objectives
  • Effective communication skills with team and management
  • Scheduling availability to meet the needs of the business
  • Cosmetology license desirable, but not required
