About the Role
The Assistant Manager at Edwin Watts Golf is responsible for promoting and maintaining a store culture consistent with Worldwide Golf’s values, including the “Sure No Problem” philosophy—putting the customer first and ensuring a memorable and positive customer experience.
Responsibilities
- Maintain strong knowledge of all golf products and ensure employees can educate customers on offerings.
- Control shrink and expenses while ensuring the sales floor is adequately stocked, signed, and merchandise is displayed to brand standards.
- Execute visual merchandising programs, modules, and direction, including floor moves and display maintenance.
- Ensure compliance with all policies and procedures through store management, meetings, walk-throughs, and audits.
- Monitor company communication tools daily and adjust schedules to execute workload as needed.
- Serve as a brand ambassador in the local community, building external relationships and partnerships in the golf industry.
- Respond to negative customer experiences by de-escalating situations and resolving issues.
- Use customer feedback to recognize and coach employees.
- Help employees grow their careers and golf skill sets by identifying opportunities for development.
- Recognize and suggest process improvements.
Requirements
- 2+ years of retail management experience OR experience working in the golf industry (a strong golf background is preferred but not required for candidates with extensive retail management experience).
- Working knowledge of POS register systems, word-processing, spreadsheets, inventory, internet, and order processing systems.
- Ability to read, write, analyze, and interpret business reports, correspondence, and procedures with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to calculate figures such as discounts, interest, commissions, and percentages.
- Physical ability to access all areas of the store, including standing, walking, stooping, crawling, climbing, crouching, kneeling, and lifting/moving up to 35 pounds.
- Willingness to work varied hours/days as business dictates.
