About the role

The Salvation Army Thrift Stores in San Francisco support the Adult Rehabilitation Program. This position involves managing store operations, providing coaching and training, and ensuring customer and donor satisfaction.

Responsibilities

  • Taking an active role in the day-to-day operation of the store alongside the Store Manager.
  • Handling all day-to-day store operations in the absence of the Store Manager.
  • Coaching, training, and developing Store Employees.
  • Maintaining good relationships with Customers/Donors and resolving complaints promptly.
  • Communicating personnel issues with Management.
  • Ensuring store merchandising standards and inventory levels are maintained.
  • Managing Back Room Processing in the absence of the Store Manager.
  • Ensuring proper handling of cash and safeguarding it according to ARCC policy.
  • Implementing and maintaining loss prevention measures.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School diploma/GED or equivalent.
  • A minimum of 2 years of previous Retail Management/Supervisory experience.
  • Accurate handling of POS/Cash Register operations and cash transactions.
  • A valid Driver’s license and proof of insurance.
  • Pass a background check, including a criminal history and sex offender registry check.
  • Effective communication skills with management, employees, customers, and donors.

  • Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist.
  • Ability to grasp, push, pull objects such as files, clothing carts, merchandise carts, and hand trucks.
  • Ability to move products up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to perform repetitive motion tasks.

Schedule

Stores operate 7 days per week. Work schedules are determined by Management and associates must be flexible to ensure adequate store coverage. Full-time associates may work any full-time shift including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Physical Demands

Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or continuous basis. Ability to grasp, push, pull objects such as files, file cabinet drawers, clothing carts, merchandise carts, rolling clothing racks, fixtures, furniture dollies, platform trucks and carts, hand trucks, and miscellaneous carts. Ability to move products up to 50 lbs. Ability to perform various repetitive motion tasks. Must be able to perform duties with or without reasonable accommodation.
