Job Summary
The assistant store manager assists the store manager in planning, directing, and controlling the operation of the store. They supervise employees to manage production, inventory, merchandising, losses, gross and net profit, and hours of work in all departments. They also assist in supervising the ordering of products, supporting sales plans, and maximizing sales, while ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations.
Responsibilities
- Aid in supervising the hiring, firing, promotions, demotions, and disciplinary actions for all employees.
- Pass a pre-employment drug screen.
- Work a maximum 10-hour day and be on 24-hour call.
- Develop and enforce company policies and procedures.
- Be a self-starter and travel to and from work.
- Give verbal and written instructions, conduct meetings, and provide direction to employees.
- Operate all equipment in the store, program a cash register, balance store cash, and write work schedules and reports.
- Deal effectively with vendors, suppliers, competitors, employees, and employee representatives.
- Discipline employees, when necessary, and assist in establishing and administering rules and regulations.
Requirements
- Pass a pre-employment drug screen.
- Normal working hours of up to 10 hours per day.
- On-call availability.
- Good interpersonal skills and proven leadership abilities.
- Ability to read, write, add, subtract, multiply, and divide.
- Knowledge of financial statements, including profit and loss, and the ability to set objectives to overcome deficiencies.
- Operate all equipment in the store, program a cash register, balance store cash, and write work schedules and reports.
- Communicate effectively with vendors, suppliers, competitors, employees, and employee representatives.
- Handle disciplinary actions and assist in rule administration.
