The Assistant Store Manager at O'Reilly Auto Parts is responsible for supporting the Store Manager in various areas including sales, customer service, store appearance, and operations. Key duties include leading the store team in excellent customer service, supervising customer service levels, managing staffing, setting goals, providing feedback, and mentoring team members. The position also involves assisting in the hiring process, ensuring proper communication of Zipline messages, delegating and completing Image Maker and merchandising tasks, and performing store opening/closing duties.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the store team in providing excellent customer service to retail and professional customers.
  • Supervise the customer service levels on the retail showroom, including executing customer service programs.
  • Aid the store manager in ensuring adequate staffing at the retail sales counter, particularly during peak business hours.
  • Aid in setting team member goals, providing feedback, coaching, and mentoring team members.
  • Support the hiring process by completing recruiting tasks, scheduling interviews, evaluating candidates, and collaborating with management.
  • Ensure the telephone is answered according to company policy.
  • Process buy online/ship to store, hub and store to store transfers, and DC add orders in a timely manner.
  • Handle special orders and outside purchases efficiently and according to procedure.
  • Process and handle retail customer returns and exchanges in a friendly and accurate manner.
  • Invoice all merchandise, including core charges and warranties.
  • Communicate and delegate tasks as assigned.
  • Perform all store opening/closing duties, including day end procedures, money verification, deposit preparation, security checks, and vehicle locking.
  • Maintain the store building, parking lot, exterior signage, lighting, computer hardware, in-store service/s equipment, and delivery vehicles.

Requirements

  • Sales Specialist Training
  • Assistant Manager Certification
  • RSS Certification
  • Certified Parts Professional Certification (desired)
  • ASE Certification (desired)
  • Fluency in multiple languages, with Spanish highly desired
