The Assistant Store Manager at O'Reilly Auto Parts is responsible for supporting the Store Manager in various areas including sales, customer service, and store operations. Key duties include leading the store team in providing excellent customer service, supervising customer service levels, managing staffing, setting goals, providing feedback, and hiring new team members. Additionally, this position involves handling telephone inquiries, processing buy online/ship to store orders, managing returns and exchanges, and performing store opening/closing duties.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the store team in providing excellent customer service to retail and professional customers.
  • Supervise the customer service levels on the retail showroom to include team member execution on customer service programs.
  • Work with the store manager to ensure the retail sales counter is adequately staffed, especially during peak business hours.
  • Aid in the hiring process by completing recruiting tasks, scheduling interviews, evaluating candidates, and collaborating with management to select qualified team members.
  • Ensure the telephone is answered according to company policy and handle buy online/ship to store, hub and store to store transfers, and DC add orders in a timely manner.
  • Utilize the electronic outside purchase order ledger to ensure special orders and outside purchases are handled efficiently and according to procedure.
  • Ensure retail customer returns and exchanges are processed in an efficient and friendly manner, issue refunds accurately, and stage returned merchandise correctly.
  • Ensure all merchandise, including core charges and warranties, are invoiced before product leaves the store.
  • Communicate Zipline messages, delegate and complete Image Maker and merchandising tasks as assigned.
  • Maintain compliance with company policies, including adherence to the posted work schedule, approval of changes/deviations by management, and proper clocking in/out.
  • Perform all store opening/closing duties, including day end procedures, verifying/securing money/deposits, preparing bank deposits, ensuring security measures are in place, and managing delivery vehicles.
  • Maintain the store building, parking lot, exterior signage/lighting, computer hardware, in-store service/test equipment, and delivery vehicles.

Requirements

  • Sales Specialist Training
  • Assistant Manager Certification and RSS Certification
  • Certified Parts Professional Certification (Desired)
  • ASE Certification (Desired)
  • Fluency in multiple languages (Spanish is highly desired)
