The Assistant Store Manager at O'Reilly Auto Parts supports the Store Manager in areas of sales, customer service, store appearance, and operations. Key responsibilities include leading the store team, managing customer service levels, staffing the retail sales counter, setting team member goals, and handling various administrative tasks.

Essential Job Functions

  • Lead the store team in providing excellent customer service to retail and professional customers.
  • Supervise the customer service levels on the retail showroom, including executing customer service programs.
  • Work with the store manager to ensure adequate staffing, especially during peak business hours.
  • Aid in the hiring process by completing recruiting tasks, scheduling interviews, evaluating candidates, and collaborating with management.
  • Ensure the telephone is answered according to company policy and handle buy online/ship to store, hub and store to store transfers, and DC add orders.
  • Manage the processing of special orders, outside purchases, and customer returns and exchanges, ensuring accurate refunds and proper merchandise handling.
  • Maintain the store's appearance and equipment, including securing the building and monitoring deliveries.
  • Perform store opening and closing duties, such as verifying and securing money/deposits, preparing bank deposits, arming/disarming security alarms, and securing delivery vehicles.
  • Support the store manager in maintaining the store environment and equipment.
  • Assist with other duties as assigned.

Skills, Education, Knowledge, Experience, Abilities

  • Sales Specialist Training
  • Assistant Manager Certification
  • RSS Certification
  • Certified Parts Professional Certification (desired)
  • ASE Certification (desired)
  • Fluency in multiple languages, particularly Spanish (highly desired)
